2024

This series is inspired from Attar’s “Conference of the birds” — a 12th century poem about a group of birds (led by Hud-Hud) who embark on an epic journey to find the legendary Simurgh. In the end, only 30 birds reach their final destination discovering that they collectively are the Simurgh (Si =30, Murgh = bird). Each bird represents a corresponding human trait (flaw / behavior) that often holds us back from reaching our full potential. It is a metaphor for the human struggle — the search for self — a core aspect of self-reflection during Ramadan.

2016

This series featured a daily animation incorporating the Arabic numeral for that day of Ramadan. For example, the sun rising and setting highlights day one — a representation of the daily fast from dawn until dusk.

2017

In celebration of Canada’s 150th, this year’s series reflected on what it means to be Canadian and Muslim — an exploration of the values that define Canada.

2018

Vol. 3 was a collaboration with multiple artists/designers from around the world to showcase their personal relationship with the month of Ramadan.

2019

Vol. 4 deconstructed traditional Islamic motifs reinterpreting them in simpler ways. It was an exercise in exploring form while serving the function of slowing down in the process, taking a breath to appreciate the visuals that emerge out of the process.

2020

Vol. 5 referenced the Quran as a guide to create illustrated manuscripts for each day. Traditions encourage the faithful to celebrate God’s mercy by reciting and reflecting on the book, especially during Ramadan.

2021

Vol.6 explored fasting in the animal kingdom. Humans from different cultures and belief systems across the world have been fasting for centuries, but we aren’t the only ones. The playful graphics tug at our innate child-like curiosity, allowing us to find joy in learning while nurturing a deeper connection with nature.

2022

For vol.7 of the series, artist @mraj dives into the metaverse sharing his most iconic Ramadan memories and experiences. 30 Days of RMDN™ takes the form of a multi-faceted NFT collection where virtual memoirs are presented as unique collectible artworks. [VIEW MORE]

2023

30 pieces for 30 days of Ramadan. The Iftar Bar was a limited run, 30-piece chocolate bar designed to help celebrate the Muslim community’s daily break at sundown. This culturally-led campaign was launched in partnership with Muslim influencers. With an overwhelmingly positive response, North American Muslims didn’t just love the Iftar Bar — they finally felt seen.
